Hi, I'm Jess

I’m a paediatric speechie here at Hastings Macleay Speech Pathology. After completing my Bachelor of Nutrition Science in 2019, I decided on a different career path and completed my Masters of Speech Pathology in 2024. I have previously worked as an Allied Health Assistant while completing my degree.

My Story

I moved from my hometown, Launceston Tasmania, with my Fiancé and two dogs to Port Macquarie in 2023.  So, in my spare time, you will find me almost always at the beach with my dogs, attempting to catch a wave, or soak up the beautiful sunshine.

My passion for Speech Pathology has stemmed from my love for working within Early Intervention. Supporting children’s communication skills and empowering families has been extremely rewarding; by witnessing their growth in connection, confidence, happiness, and joyful communication experiences.

I have supported children within rural areas in Tasmania and Mid-North Coast of New South Wales. I am passionate in continuing to learn and grow from families of diverse cultures and complex backgrounds. My speech pathology sessions are guided by adopting a neurodiversity-affirming and strengths-based approach. I tailor assessments/therapy to suit each child’s individual needs holistically, and love working in partnership with families and other allied health/medical professionals to progress towards meaningful communication/feeding goals.

So far, I have developed a strong interest in Alternative Augmentative Communication, gestalt language processing, sensory needs/regulation, literacy, and paediatric feeding for autistic children and children of other neurodivergent populations.
